Nintendo 64

The Nintendo 64 is the one of a new generation of 64 bit game consoles.  The Playstation already has a grip on the market in Britain, but it's not like that everywhere in the world. Even modern PC struggles  to emulate the N64.  Here is a good emulator though.

ULTRA-HLE  Not much can be said about this N64 emulator that hasn't been said already. This emulator shocked the emulation community on January 28th, 1999, by being the first N64 emulator ever to play commercial games, at good speeds, and with sound support. It can now play over 50 commercial commercial games with the modified ini file. It is still the best N64 emulator to date. Games such as Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64 run superbly on PII 300Mhz systems. But don't be put off by the system requirements, PII 2xxMhz systems can runs this emulator just as well with Voodoo1 based technology as well as Voodoo Banshee. If you don't have a Voodoo based graphics card, you can still run this emulator with the various Glide wrappers available.

Great graphics and some great games make the N64 an excellent games console, Games like Golden Eye and the Legend of Zelda have done much to enhance the consoles reputation.

NEMU64Another N64 emulator that uses similar technique as UntraHLE it runs with a windows front endThis is a great emulator that has some of the features that makes UltraHLE what it is (dynamic recompilation). It does not yet run commercial games but it is quite close

Other Emulators

1964 www.emuhq.com/1964 The formerly open source emulator. Still quite interesting but the source was closed after someone took it made an emulator and claimed it as their own. Sad isn't it?

True Reality www.emuhq.com/truereality EmuHQ's Mystery Emulator. It supports a lot of commercial games. Something different about this N64 Emulator is that it does not require Glide to Run. So no more annoying wrappers, this will help make this the more favourable emulator for the N64.
