The Canal

My house backs onto a canal and if I walk our daughter to school I have to cross it over a small footbridge.

Heron, about to take flight as the lady walking her 5 dogs approaches...

I got a little closer on another occasion, but I did not get a shot in time...

This is looking south towards the small footbridge.

This is a picture looking west on the canal that passes by the back of my house.  I was stood on a foot bridge one bitter morning in November 2003.

The ground was frosty but the can remained unfrozen.

Another cold November morning looking up the canal towards the west.  Autumn 2003 was particularly vivid following record breaking temperatures in the summer.

The knock on effect was some beautiful colours in the leaves on the trees, still evident at the start of winter.

This is the 'moon under the water', framed with a couple of branches in the foreground and some blurry coloured lilies.

This is looking east from the footbridge as the sun rises over the horizon.

I was lucky enough to capture a seagull out on an early morning scavenge.

The footbridge at dawn, the can is frozen and the sky is clear...
